Have you ever had one of those days? A day where you just don’t want to leave your house, but are in dire need of a haircut or color? Well, if you know Amy Matson, you wouldn’t have to leave your home at all, because Amy comes to you – wherever you may be. That’s right, she’s a traveling hairdresser, and she makes house calls!
Amy began doing hair in 1994, at a Quincy salon called, Hair by Dee. After working there for seven years, she learned that the salon would soon be closing its doors for good. When word of this reached Amy’s regular customers, they began to wonder where they could get their beloved hairdresser’s services, again. After pondering the questions for a while, some of her customers began asking Amy to come to their homes until she had found a new salon to work from. They asked her to perform all the tasks that she normally did at the salon in a completely different setting – their home.
In the beginning, Amy only serviced people from the Quincy area, many whom were her regular clients at the salon she had worked at. As a word of mouth spread about her convenient salon traveling services, Amy’s clientele began to grow immensely. Amy currently provides services to Taunton, Raynham, Quincy, Hull, Randolph, Braintree, Brockton, Easton, Swansea and everywhere in between! Amy has become one busy traveling hairdresser.
While Amy may bring her salon to you, she does not charge any extra money for its convenience. Amy is actually very competitive with other salons. She does perms, colors, and waxing, along with manicures and pedicures, all at basically the same price as any salon that is in a stationary building. “I am the salon on wheels!” Amy said jokingly. When you really think about it, that is exactly what Amy is. She carries everything a hairdresser would need to perform her craft.
Amy provides her services to a variety of people each week. If you are a doctor who just cannot find the time to get out of the office, now worries. Amy will come to you. Same goes for any other professional with no time to lose. The elderly enjoy her services on wheels; because it saves them having to leave there homes and removes any worry of transportation. Amy also visits the Taunton Nursing Home often, to provide her hair services to those who would otherwise be incapable of leaving. In fact, they look forward to her visit. It gives them not only a professional hair service, but they also enjoy her company.
In an average week, Amy will work on anywhere from 15 – 20 people. Some people have weekly appointments, and others have their hair needs, met once a month.
